Guest Post: Getting Back To Goodness With Walking, Budget Friendly Health Foods, And A Cooking Challenge Too!
This guest post is by Brooke Benlifer. For those of you who don’t know Brooke, She’s our resident Dietitian here at The Wellness Bucket. Here’s the fifth installment of her 2016 Back To Goodness Series. One of the best ways to take care of ourselves and get back to goodness is by cooking for ourselves. Brooke shows us how, what, and why. So awesome to have you here with us Brooke… Thanks Mike! As summer approaches, I notice that many people get on a hyper-focused quest to get “beach ready”. While I am all for helping my clients look and feel their personal best, I believe their are healthier, more effective ways to reach a state of optimal wellness. Instead of neglecting ourselves for 6 to 9 months of the year with less than stellar choices and lack of self-care, I suggest we take positive steps every day so... read more

Why Achieving Your Fitness Goals Such As Weight Loss Has Nothing To Do With Will Power & Everything To Do With Accountability
So here’s the deal… When it comes to willpower, it’s temporary. It doesn’t last. Willpower does not last. Whenever I’ve set out to do something and have relied on willpower, I’ve failed. It’s true. The Truth About Accountability It could be that I just plain suck when it comes to having willpower, although I believe there’s more to it than that. Here’s some brutal honesty for you… I have failed at MANY things. It’s never fun to admit that, but it’s the truth, I have. As much as I have failed and fell on my face plenty of times, there’s also been times when I’ve succeeded and achieved what I set out to achieve. Some of these achievements include a seven day master cleanse where I consumed nothing but just water and a healthy detoxifying lemonade concoction. Running a full marathon in St. George, Utah. Running a 50... read more

More With Mike Podcast: How To Think Your Way To A Healthy Lifestyle & Body
One of my favorite books is Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. The whole idea of the book is to think your way to what you want. I’m considering writing a book myself called, Think & Lose Weight. I’m kidding of course, but I’m kind of not. Writing a book is on my bucket list you know. 🙂 Episode #7 How To Think Your Way To A Healthy Lifestyle & Body I’m continuous blown away, especially over the last six months, by the results my clients are achieving. Not because of anything amazing I’m doing either, but more so because of how just making a small shift in mindset, how and what they think, brings with it incredible results. It’s absolutely crazy and mind boggling to me – in a good way that is. A Few Case Studies Case Study #1 A recent client... read more

More With Mike Podcast: How To Squash That Little Voice In Your Head That Holds You Back
I’m not good enough. I’m not smart enough. I don’t deserve it. I’ll never make it. I don’t have what it takes to be successful. I failed before and I’ll fail again. Hey, little voice… fuck-off, you’re not wanted here. Episode #6 How To Squash That Little Voice That Holds You Back No one’s immune to that little voice that holds us back from being our best. I’m sure you know the voice that I’m referring to as well. That voice that feeds us all the bullshit excuses and reasons of how we can’t and won’t do something. How we’ll fail, be laughed at, embarrassed, and left defeated. That same stupid voice that gets the best of us from time to time. How My Little Voice Got The Best Of Me Just recently, I decided to take on a self induced 30 day cold shower challenge. I... read more

When it comes to getting back to goodness, quality sleep is a must. Brooke shares six ways to get awesome sleep AND some more great recipes. Always such a pleasure having you with us Brooke… Take it away! Thanks Mike! Did you know that experts advise that we make just one or two changes at a time? This is the exact recommendation I always make to my own clients although this past month, I personally got a little carried away. One change became two, and then two quickly became three. The changes basically built upon each other until I ended up with a Jenga tower of new habits that I hoped would not crumble into... read more
